Map Resources terrain maps are completely editable, providing you with a very flexible map.

Our terrain maps are composed of two linked map files:

 - The AI (Adobe Illustrator) file containing the vector artwork (e.g., coastline, rivers, roads, city locations etc.) 

 - The PSD (Adobe Photoshop) file containing the raster image (shaded relief and elevation shading.) The raster image is saved at 300DPI in CMYK.

You must have Adobe Illustrator to open Terrain maps.  Using Illustrator, you can edit and modify the AI vector artwork.  If you have Adobe Photoshop, you can edit and modify the PSD file. Each of the files may also be used independently from one another delivering a very versatile resource for your map making.

Open the sample map with Adobe Illustrator and apply your work flow or design.  If you have Photoshop you can open the linked PSD file and see how it’s layered:  Black Channel contains Shaded Relief and CMY Channels contain Color Elevation. Outline of Map Resources Terrain Resources and Costs:

Terrain data is available in several of levels of detail.  Your use of the map determines the terrain we will suggest.  Sometimes you may need more than one map to achieve your project’s goals.

1 pixel per 10 meters is appropriate for an area up to 4000 square miles.  For example, we use this terrain data along with our city map data to produce an area map with an arterial road network.
Cost starts at $1150.

1 pixel per 30 meters is appropriate for an area up to 10,000 square miles. For example, we use this terrain data along with our US state data to produce poster size maps for an eastern US state or a region of a western US state.
Cost starts at $650.

1 pixel per 90 meters is appropriate for small countries or international sub region. For example, we use this terrain data along with our international data to make maps for geographies the size of the Czech Republic.
Cost starts at $750. 

1 pixel per 1 kilometer is appropriate for a large country. For example, we use this terrain data along with our international country data to make maps for geographies like Brazil.
Cost starts at $1900.

We will provide a terrain image for your evaluation during the proposal process. We want to be assured that the terrain we generate is appropriate for your project. And, during the production process you will receive a draft or drafts for further evaluation and approval.
